Story: Golden Sun is the story of a boy named Isaac who loses his father in a terrible accident. The elemental stars are stolen from Sol Sanctum and it is now the responsibility of Isaac and his friend Garet (including some other late comers) to get the stars back and keep the threat of Alchemy away from the world.
Overview: Golden Sun was developed by Camelot with Nintendo as the publisher. Golden Sun contains all the elements of a great RPG: engrossing storyline, amazing graphics, fantastic gameplay, and the ability to use all sorts of amazing magical spells. Camelot really outdid themselves in the creation of this masterpiece worthy of standing with such RPGs as FF, Dragon Warrior, and Zelda.
Graphics: The graphics in Golden Sun are incredible on the handheld system. No other game available on the Gameboy can compete with the quality of graphics that cover the world. Known as the definitive RPG for Gameboy, the graphics are stellar especially in the beautiful animated battle scenes. The battle scenes and summons are of a kind not seen of the Gameboy and really go to prove that the Gameboy is much more powerful than the SNES.
Sound: The sound in Golden Sun is also of high quality. This game is one of those rare games that combine excellent gameplay, excellent graphics, and an incredible sound track all in one package. The sound is very hummable, and the beautiful track when you're in Sol Sanctum will blow your mind away.
Gameplay: The gameplay is excellent. The menus for battling are really easy to navigate and the ability to alter the Dijinn used per member opens exciting new possibilities. Also the ability to use magic outside of battle to due certain things was a remarkable idea. The ability to set more of the useful spells to the left and right buttons make it very convenient to cast the useful spells. The only complaint I have is the constant setting of the Dijinns. This is a very small complaint though, so the gameplay remains stellar.
Verdict: Golden Sun is the definitive RPG experience for Gameboy. No other RPG can compare. With the sequel already out in Japan and it coming to North America shortly, look for this to become Camelot's franchise series. If you have a remote interest in RPGs, then buy this game...I promise you won't regret it.
